The Feast Plugin is a popular plugin among food bloggers and other instruction or recipe-focused bloggers. We'll be going over "The Feast Plugin" specifically in this article and not the standalone Classic Themes.

These instructions will be performed on and intended for a fresh WordPress install. While this article may be adapted for a website with pre-existing content, the steps or process might not be the same.

Step 1 - Download The Feast Plugin and Theme Files

The Feast Plugin is a premium piece of software. You'll want to visit their website at https://feastdesignco.com/ and purchase the plugin accordingly. Once purchased, you'll download a file called "feast-plugin.zip". Be sure to save this to your computer in an easy-to-find location, as you'll need it later.

While any theme can be used, typically, most food bloggers use Genesis Framework followed by one of Feast Design Co's themes, such as Foodie Pro.

You can download the Genesis Framework here. You'll download a file called "genesis.zip" which may include a version number. The version number is expected and ok. Be sure to save this to your computer in an easy-to-find location, as you'll need it later.

You can download Foodie Pro and other themes in the same area where you downloaded The Feast Plugin. It'll also come in .zip format. Be sure to save this to your computer in an easy-to-find location, as you'll need it later.

Step 2 - Login to your WordPress Administrative Interface

This would be your URL followed by /wp-admin/ or /wp-login.php. An example I am going to the following URL for this article: https://learn-wpo.com/wp-admin/

If you've successfully logged in, you'll be presented with a page that looks similar to this:

Step 3 - Upload and Activate Genesis Framework and Foodie Pro

While in /wp-admin/ navigate to Appearance -> Themes.

You'll be presented with a page that lists a few default WordPress themes. You'll see an "Add New" button that you will want to click.

You'll see more themes and a filter and search bar for various themes, and you can ignore these other public themes. You will want to click the "Upload Theme" button.

You will now see a box that asks you to "Choose File." Click it accordingly.

Now you will want to browse to the Genesis Framework .zip you downloaded earlier in Step 1 and select it. Then click the "Install Now" button.

Once the theme has been installed, you will want to click the "Go to Themes page." DO NOT activate the theme in this step.

We will do the same thing again for the "Foodie Pro" theme. Rather than writing it all out, here are some screenshots:

Select the "Foodie Pro" .zip you downloaded earlier (or whichever Feast theme you are using).

Now for this Foodie Pro theme, once installed, you will want to click "Activate."

Once activated, you'll be presented with a message that you just installed the Foodie Pro theme.

That's it for Step 3!

Step 4 - Upload and Activate The Feast Plugin

We'll now install The Feast Plugin.

Head to Plugins -> Add New.

You'll be presented with a page that lists Featured plugins along with an "Upload Plugin" button at the top of the page. You'll want to click on "Upload Plugin."

You'll now be presented with a box asking you to Choose file. Click it accordingly.

Now you'll want to browse to the feast-plugin.zip that you saved in Step 1 and select it. Once selected, you'll want to click the "Install Now" button on the right-hand side.

Once you click "Install Now" your browser may load for a few seconds while uploading the file. Then you'll be presented with a page that asks you to activate the plugin. Please click the blue "Activate Plugin" button.

Once activated, you'll be taken to the Installed Plugins page, where you should see an activated "Feast Plugin."

That's it! The Feast Plugin has been installed!

Now that you've installed The Feast Plugin and a theme, I recommend that you review Feast's Recommend Settings and the rest of their documentation to learn how you can start customizing and editing your website.
