Logged-in User Cache — Faster Pages for Logged-in Visitors

Fast, private caching for your logged-in visitors, only at BigScoots. What it is, which plugins it works with, and how to turn it on.

What is Logged-in User Cache?

Most websites stop caching the moment a visitor logs in. From then on, every page they open has to be built from scratch by your server, so dashboards, carts, account pages, and course pages feel slow.

Logged-in User Cache fixes that. Each logged-in visitor gets their own private cached copy of the pages they visit. They get the speed of a cached site, and they only ever see their own content.

Why only BigScoots has it

Caching pages for logged-in users is hard to do safely. Get it wrong, and one customer can see another customer's name, order, or account details. That's why other hosts and caching plugins simply switch caching off for logged-in users.

Our engineering team spent nearly two years building a way to do it safely. It's our own technology, and it's only available to BigScoots customers.

It's included on Boost by BigScoots and other BigScoots plans with Cloudflare Enterprise, at no extra cost.

Safe and proven

Every logged-in user's cache is kept separate, so one user never sees another user's page. Logged-in User Cache is already running on thousands of busy websites.

What you gain

With Logged-in User Cache, sites can see:

  • Up to 97% faster page loads for logged-in users

  • Up to 80% less CPU and memory use on the server

  • Up to 80% fewer requests reaching the server

Because repeat visits are served from cache instead of your server, your site stays fast for logged-in users even at busy times, and your server has more room for the requests that really need it.

Supported plugins

When something changes for a user, such as placing an order, renewing a membership, buying a ticket, or editing their profile, BigScoots Cache clears the cache for that user only. Everyone else keeps their cached pages, and you don't have to do anything.

This works out of the box with these plugins:

  • WooCommerce

  • WooCommerce Subscriptions

  • WooCommerce Memberships

  • Easy Digital Downloads (and Easy Digital Downloads Pro)

  • Easy Digital Downloads – Recurring Payments

  • Easy Digital Downloads – Software Licensing

  • Easy Digital Downloads – All Access

  • MemberPress

  • WishList Member

  • Leaky Paywall

  • Event Tickets (and Event Tickets Plus)

  • Thrive Apprentice

  • Thrive Ultimatum

  • User tags from any Thrive Themes plugin

How to turn it on

Site administrators can turn Logged-in User Cache on or off.

From the banner

If your site runs one of the plugins above, administrators will see a BigScoots Cache banner on the WordPress Dashboard, the Plugins page, and the BigScoots Cache settings page. Click Turn on logged-in caching, and you're done. If you don't see the banner, use the settings page below.

From the settings page

Go to Settings → BigScoots Cache (it sits under the BigScoots Helper menu instead if you use that plugin). On the Cache tab, turn on Enable Cache for Logged-in Users and save.

Prefer we do it? Contact our support team, and we'll turn it on for you.

Multisite

Logged-in User Cache works on WordPress Multisite. It's turned on separately for each site in your network, and each site's users are cached on their own.
