With your WordPress service, you can create multiple accounts for yourself or to add collaborators. These accounts provide easy access to WordPress without needing to go through your hosting provider. This guide will walk you through the process of creating and managing WordPress users.

If you are currently within a Managed WordPress (WPO) service, you can use the guide below for an easier method:

Creating a WordPress User

In this section, we will guide you on how to find and create your WordPress logins.

Before you begin, please make sure your website is set up to receive emails so you can get the email to set up your admin password.

  1. Log into WordPress - If you don't know how, you can follow this guide.

  2. Click on Users on the left-hand side, then click Add New User.

  3. You will be directed to a form to complete. In the top section, enter a username, email, first and last name, and website. You can choose to have WordPress auto-generate a password, or you can enter one manually. If you'd like to send the user an email notification, check the corresponding box. Lastly, you must assign a role to the user, with five options to choose from:

    1. Subscriber - Someone who can only manage their profile.

    2. Contributor - Someone who can write and manage their own posts, but cannot publish them.

    3. Author - Someone who can publish and manage their own posts.

    4. Editor - Someone who can publish and manage posts, including the posts of others.

    5. Administrator - Someone who has access to all the administration features within a single site.

Once everything has been entered, click Add New User.

  4. The new user will now appear on the Users page.

  5. If you checked the box to send the user an email, the email will be sent out and give them a link to set the password for their account.
