A crucial part of any website is its domain—it's the naming system of the web that allows users to find your site. An essential component of your domain is the nameservers, which connect your domain name to the correct IP address. If nameservers are entered incorrectly, your site may become inaccessible. To help prevent any issues, BigScoots makes it easy to manage your nameservers directly from your Billing Portal. This guide will walk you through the steps to update your nameservers.
Login to the Billing Portal
From the Dashboard you can view your Domains (If you cannot see the domains, click Services on the side and select Domains from the dropdown). Once you have located the domain, click the domain or arrow on the right side to access.
On the domain page, you are able to see the details of your domain. Towards the bottom there is a section for Nameservers, click the blue Nameservers text to edit.
A new section will appear where you can input nameserver information. Depending on how you are trying to set the nameserver, you will select either Our nameservers or Custom from the top:
Our nameservers - Will reset the domain to be pointed to BigScoots' servers.
Custom - Allows you to input your own nameservers.
If you choose Custom, fill in the nameserver rows. If you need to add additional nameservers, click Add more.
Once you have finished setting up the nameservers, click Save Changes. An alert will then appear asking if you want to update, click OK to proceed.
Once saved, you will be brought back to the domain page. The nameservers will now be updated and a message at top will let you know that changes saved.
Congratulations! You've successfully updated your nameservers.
