Boost is our baseline performance service designed to be the foundation of a fast and secure WordPress site. It combines Cloudflare Enterprise with the BigScoots Cache Plugin to deliver enterprise-grade speed and security automatically.
What Does Boost Do?
Boost is an automated "set and forget" solution designed to enhance your website's performance and security. Once active, it automatically handles the following:
Enterprise Edge Caching: Your pages are stored on Cloudflare servers globally to serve content instantly from the location closest to your visitors.
On-The-Fly Image Optimization: Images are automatically optimized to reduce file size.
Automated WebP Delivery: Images are automatically served in modern, lighter WebP format to browsers that support it.
Advanced Security (WAF): An enterprise-grade Web Application Firewall blocks spam, known WordPress vulnerabilities, malicious bots, and unwanted crawlers before they reach your site.
Accessing Boost Settings
Because Boost operates via a specific CNAME record, you will not see these new Enterprise features inside your personal Cloudflare account. Your personal Cloudflare dashboard is used strictly for DNS management.
To view or change your specific Boost (Cloudflare Enterprise) settings:
Log into your BigScoots WPO Account.
Go to My Sites and click on your domain.
Select the Cloudflare tab.
Click Enterprise Settings.
Important: If you are currently paying Cloudflare directly for a Pro or Business plan, you should cancel it. Cloudflare does not provide refunds, so please ensure you cancel before your next renewal date to avoid unnecessary charges.
Managing Your Cache
The BigScoots Cache Plugin is the brain behind Boost. It is installed on your site to control the Cloudflare Enterprise connection. While Boost is fully managed, these resources will help you manage caching when necessary.
1. Clearing the Cache
Cache clearing is generally automated. When you publish or update a post, the cache clears itself. However, if you make design changes (CSS, theme settings etc), you may need to clear it manually.

Understanding when cache clears automatically and how to check if it is working.
2. Managing Other Optimization Plugins
Since Boost handles caching and provides a CDN, you may need to adjust your existing plugins to ensure they remain compatible.
WP Rocket: Boost does not conflict with WP Rocket. We automatically add a must-use plugin to handle any caching conflicts. However, you must disable the Cloudflare Add-on inside your WP Rocket settings.
The Cloudflare Plugin: Please remove the official Cloudflare plugin as it is no longer needed.
Other CDNs: Boost provides an Enterprise CDN. Please disable Jetpack Site Accelerator or other third-party CDNs; otherwise, you won't benefit from Boost's image optimization.
Other Cache Plugins: To avoid conflicts, please disable page caching inside plugins like W3 Total Cache, WP Fastest Cache, or similar tools.
3. Advanced Customization (For Developers)
Boost works out of the box, but it is also developer-friendly. Use these resources if you need to integrate the cache with custom workflows.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need other image optimization plugins? No. Boost handles image optimization and WebP delivery at the edge. You can safely remove plugins like ShortPixel, Imagify, or Smush. However, it will not conflict if you choose to keep those plugins around for storage-saving purposes.
Can I use Cloudflare APO? No. Boost replaces Cloudflare APO with a more powerful, fully integrated Enterprise HTML cache. Please disable and cancel APO to avoid conflicts.
Will Boost improve my Core Web Vitals? Boost provides an excellent base for speed, but it is an automated tool. If you are struggling with specific Core Web Vitals issues, we recommend upgrading to our Performance Services. This gives you access to a real human expert dedicated to fine-tuning your site's performance.
