Securing your website with an SSL certificate is a crucial step in protecting user data and establishing trust with visitors. For websites hosted on servers with cPanel, obtaining and installing an SSL certificate is a straightforward process that enhances both security and credibility. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to obtain an SSL certificate and install it on your website using cPanel.

  1. Enter cPanel - If you don't know how, you can follow this guide.

  2. In cPanel, look for the SSL/TLS option under the Security tab.

  3. To generate a CSR, click on 'Certificate Signing Requests (CSR)'. On the next page, select your domain, fill in all the relevant details, and click Generate.

  4. You need to copy that CSR and provide it to your SSL provider. They will then issue the .crt file, CA bundle, and private key, which you can install via cPanel. Since I already have the certificate file and private key, I will proceed with the installation.

  5. Go to the same SSL/TLS section in cPanel and click on Manage SSL Sites.

  6. On the next page, select your domain, then paste the private key, certificate file, and CA bundle into their respective fields. Once done, click on Install Certificate.

  7. On the same page, you should see a confirmation along with a green padlock indicating that the SSL certificate has been successfully installed.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully obtained and installed an SSL certificate on your domain through cPanel.
