Since it is very important for security reasons that you create an extremely difficult WordPress Admin Password it is not uncommon to forget it. If you are on one of our BigScoots shared or reseller services or if you are using cPanel/WHM on a VPS or dedicated service, we are about to tell you how to recover it!

Step #1:

Log in to cPanel. If you're unsure how to do this, you can follow this guide. Then, go to the Databases section and click on 'phpMyAdmin'.

Step #2:

Select the WordPress database used by your website from phpMyAdmin. If you're unsure, you can check the wp-config.php file in your root directory to confirm.

Step #3:

Now, find the wp_users table within your database in phpMyAdmin and click on it to edit. In my database, the users table is named 'wpck_users.'

Step #4:

Now, select 'Edit' next to your WordPress Admin username. In my case, there is only one admin user, but it's not uncommon to have several. Just make sure to 'Edit' the WordPress Admin details for the correct username.

Step #5:

Locate the user_pass field, where your wordpress admin password is stored. From the dropdown under 'Function,' select 'MD5.' Then, enter your new password in the available textbox and click 'Go' at the bottom of the page.

Congratulations! You've successfully changed your WordPress admin password from cPanel.
