Domains play a crucial role in any online presence. The domain name is what directs traffic to your website, making it a key element for success. To simplify the process, BigScoots partners with ICANN to offer domain registration services. For just $15.95 per year (pricing may vary based on domain extension), you can host your domain with us. This guide will walk you through the steps to transfer your domain.
While transferring a domain is generally a straightforward process, it can take some time. For those planning to transfer a domain, we recommend completing your migration or fresh WordPress installation before initiating the transfer. A domain transfer typically takes about 7 days to complete, and during that period, we won't be able to adjust the DNS to finalize the migration or installation process.

Domains cannot be transferred until 60 days after registration.
Domains must be transferred at least two weeks before their expiration date. If the expiration is less than two weeks away, we recommend renewing with your current host to avoid losing the domain during the transfer process.
In terms of expiration, we will add a year to the remaining period, so you will not lose money transferring over to us.
If you are all good, you can complete the steps below with your current registrar to set up the domain transfer:
Unlock your domain
Ensure no privacy is enabled on your domain
Acquire an EPP code (sometimes called an auth code)
Once completed, you can follow the guide below to transfer the domain:
Log into the Billing Portal, then order a domain here.
Click 'Transfer Domain' then input the domain name and click 'Search.' You will then see the name pull up. Once pulled up, click 'Transfer.'
For bulk transfers, click 'Bulk Domain Transfer' then input the domains and EPP codes. Once filled out with all domains, click 'Submit.'
The transfer order will now be in your cart. If not redirected, click 'Order selected domains' to proceed.
After selecting the domain(s) to transfer, you will be directed to the Domain Configuration page. On this page, enter and verify your EPP code, choose the desired registration period (the default is one year), and select your IDN language (please select your spoken language). Once you’ve completed these steps, click 'Continue' to proceed.
On the Order Summary page, review all the information to ensure its accuracy. Read the terms and conditions at the bottom and check the box to agree. Once everything is in order, click 'Checkout' to initiate your domain transfer.
Once the invoice is paid, your domain transfer will begin. The transfer process typically takes ~7 days to complete. While this will not cause any downtime for your site, we recommend refraining from making any DNS changes until the transfer has fully completed.
