Unfortunately forcing your WordPress site to use HTTPS is not as simple as updating your .htaccess(in most cases) but luckily there is a very simple solution and in most cases you do not need to do anything other than install a plugin.

This process does not apply to our WPO customers, and we do not recommend using this plugin with WPO. If you are using our WPO service, SSL certificates are generated and managed through Cloudflare. For shared hosting customers, please follow the guide.

Assuming SSL is already installed on your site, simply follow the steps below to install the plugin and redirect HTTP to HTTPS:

  1. Please access the admin area (backend) of your website by using admin logins.

  2. Go to Plugins > Add New, search for 'Really Simple SSL', then install and activate it.

  3. It will ask you to activate SSL and complete a few steps, including adding your email to their server for notification emails, and then you'll reach the final step.

  4. Once the plugin is activated, we can use an online tool to check and verify that the website is now using HTTPS.

Congratulations! You've successfully forced HTTP to HTTPS on your website URL.
