If you want to track visitor activity, understand your audience, and make smarter decisions for your website, setting up Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is a must. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the simple steps to add your GA4 tracking ID to your website manually, without needing any advanced technical skills. Whether you're running a blog or an online store, this setup will help you start collecting valuable data in just a few minutes.
Login to Google Analytics.
On the homepage, you’ll see the option to start collecting data for your website click on ‘Web’ to proceed.
Enter your domain name, provide a stream name, and then click 'Continue'.
On the next page, you’ll see your domain listed.
Click on your domain, and on the next screen, you’ll see instructions for activating data collection. To proceed, click on ‘View tag instructions’.
Here, you’ll find instructions for setting up using the Site Kit plugin or installing the tag manually. I recommend choosing the manual installation option.
On the next page, you’ll see the code that needs to be added to the
<head>
section of your theme to activate tracking.I used the Header and Footer plugin to add this code into the head section of the site.
It may take some time for Google to start collecting data. Once everything is synced and activated with Google Analytics, you’ll see it updated like this.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully added your Google Tracking ID for Google Analytics 4.
