WHM: How to Configure cPanel Backups to Google Drive and Amazon S3

Setting up cPanel backups to Google Drive using WHM is a smart way to ensure your website data is securely stored offsite. This integration allows automatic backups to be saved directly to your Google Drive account and Amazon S3, providing an extra layer of protection against data loss. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to configure and connect your Google Drive with WHM for seamless and reliable backup management.

You will need root access to setup/configure cPanel backups.

  1. Enter WHM - If you don't know how, you can follow this guide.

  2. Search for Backup Configuration under Backup.

  3. Go to Additional Destinations under Backup Configuration.

  4. For Google Drive, you need to select Google Drive from the dropdown menu and click on Create New Destination.

  5. The remaining options will be filled in with information from your Google Drive. You can follow the outlined cPanel documentation to get the necessary details, and then click on Save Destination to complete the setup.

  6. Once it's configured, the status will show as enabled.

  7. For Amazon S3, you need to select Amazon S3 from the dropdown menu and click on Create New Destination.

  8. The remaining options will be filled in with information from your Amazon S3 account. You can follow the outlined cPanel documentation to get the necessary details, and then click on Save Destination to complete the setup.
