When moving a website or changing hosting providers, it's important to transfer email accounts between cPanel accounts to ensure no data is lost during the migration. This process involves copying all email data, including account settings and mailboxes, from the old cPanel account to the new one. Doing it properly helps maintain uninterrupted communication and preserves important information.

In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to transfer emails from one hosting/cPanel account to another cPanel account.

Please note: During a cPanel-to-cPanel migration, email accounts are transferred by default. However, in the case of manual migrations or custom moves, email accounts are not copied over automatically. In such cases, we need to follow the steps below to manually migrate the emails.

  1. Enter the new cPanel account where you want to transfer the emails. If you're not sure how to do this, you can follow the guide below.

  2. In the new cPanel, go to the Email tab and select Email Accounts. Then, create a new email account with same email address you are using in old host.

  3. Now you will need to connect your FTP client to your old cPanel/hosting account.

  4. Locate your mail files and folders on your old hosting/cPanel account, and download them to your local machine.

  5. Now access the File Manager from your new cPanel account where you want to transfer the emails.

  6. Find the mail directory.

  7. Upload the mail files and folders you downloaded from the old cPanel account to the new cPanel account.

  8. Once all the files and folders are uploaded, please make sure to compare the mailboxes to ensure everything has been transferred correctly.

Note: This can be useful when migrating hosts, migrating just email accounts, or simply changing one users email under a particular cPanel account to another.

Congratulations! You've successfully transferred email accounts between cPanel accounts.
