While we do our best here at BigScoots to make everything as seamless as possible we realize the initial ordering, getting your new WordPress site created and lastly getting logged in can use some guidance which is what this article is for.
Creating your BigScoots account
Lets go ahead and start by creating your BigScoots account which will be done here:
Once created, you can select the Order button at the top right and click WordPress Optimized Servers
You will be greeted with a very simple one page order form, please fill out all the needful and upon submitting payment you will be brought to a Order Confirmation page similar to
You will receive several emails but the last one with the subject:
β
βWelcome NAME to BigScoots!
Is the main one to pay attention to as this one will bring you to our WPO portal which is where you want to primarily be logged into moving forward. Once inside the email, please click the blue Get Started link to create your password to access the WPO portal.
After selecting this link, please create a new password. This can be the same password or different password used when creating your previous account for the BigScoots billing portal.
Once your password is set, you will be kicked back to the login screen, go ahead and login using the email address you signed up with and the password you created just on the previous screen.

You have now successfully logged into the Bigscoots WPO Portal! π Congrats! π
Adding your domain into the WPO Portal
We are not done yet though, onward!
You will now have several options to choose from, please read the description for each and choose the option that best fits your situation.. Confused? No worries, go ahead and click on the Live Chat icon at the bottom right of the screen to request some assistance!
For this article, we are going to pretend you have already purchased your domain name at your registrar(we do offer domain registration if needed!) as you want to keep in mind Domain Registration and Hosting are 2 completely separate services but you need both to be seen on the internet. And with that freshy new domain you want to install a brand new WordPress site on it so we will click the Fresh WP Install option.
On the next screen, the first set of options will in almost all cases remain set to Add a new domain to existing plan since this is a brand new plan with no domains added yet.
Now enter in your domain name into the New domain name box. In our example we will be using learn-wpo.com
Now we need to select your WPO plan, this dropdown exists in case you have multiple plans. One thing to note here is, if you have multiple plans, the new plan will only contain the Plan Name like WPO Starter by itself, where as a plan that already has domains assigned to it will contain the Plan Name followed by the first domain that was added to it to give you some way to distinguish between the plans. In our case here, one plan with no existing domains.
You will now see some similar options that you saw when initially logging into the WPO portal but well leave it set to A Fresh WordPress Install for this article.
In almost all cases BigScoots will handle your DNS changes as you will provide your Domain registrar information to us so we can handle the process for you in terms of pointing your domain to our hosting.
Click Proceed and be patient as this can initially take a minute or so.
Lastly, we will provide you with your nameservers, these nameservers need to be set at your registrar, some common names you might be familiar with are GoDaddy, NameCheap, Google Domains, Network Solutions. If you are unsure, you should be able to find it using WHOIS.com or just click on the Live Chat icon and well be happy to assist!
If you would prefer we log into your domain registrar and make the change for you, go ahead and toggle the Do you need help? option and enter in your registrar information
Regardless of the option you choose, one completed click on the Submit button to complete the process!
Logging into WordPress
Now that your domain has been added, WordPress is now actively being installed and getting ready for you to login. We are also assuming at this point that your domains nameservers have been updated at your registrar.
When viewing the Site Details page you will be able to check the status of the process, if it shows Pending please allow a few minutes for the process to complete
Once the process completes, you will now see the Status change to Active
From here, you can click the Primary domain which is the very first domain you added to this plan which will cause the plan to dropdown and list all your available domains underneath. Lets select the new domain added:
You may feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of tabs and information available to you but try your best not to, well be here to answer any questions you may have. Lets focus on getting you logged into WordPress!
When we install WordPress for the first time, we have to create a random Admin user, you are free to use this user or create your own. We prefer that you create your own and delete the original one. To do that, please follow these steps.
Click the WordPress tab at the top
Click the Add New Admin button towards the right side
Enter in a new Username and your Email, this can be the same or different email that you used to signup with, and click Create
You will now see 2 Admin Users in the list, please click the Trash can next to the one you did not create, it will use the email admin@yourdomain.com You will be prompted to reassign your posts upon deleting, there will be no posts so just select None and click Continue
Now we need to set a Password for your new admin user, click the Pencil under Password to set it.
You have now successfully created your WordPress admin user and we are now finally able to log into it for the first time!
Click back on the Site Details tab at the top
Click the Open WP Admin button to the right side, this will open up a new window asking for the WordPress Admin login you just created in the previous step.
You will see a login page similar to this
And as the first box states, you can enter in whatever you choose, either the Username OR email address you entered in when created the Admin user, they will both work in addition to the password you created.
You should now be successfully logged into your WordPress dashboard, congratulations! π₯³π₯³π₯³πππ
