Taking those first steps is a major milestone for any BigScoots client. We understand that migrating a site may feel overwhelming, but rest assured, we’ve got you covered. All we need from you is to complete the migration request form, and we’ll take care of the rest. This guide will walk you through the form, ensuring a smooth and seamless transition to BigScoots.

Help: Accessing Migration Form?

If this is your first site, you can click 'Place a Migration Request' on your dashboard.

If the migration is an add-on, you can click '+ Add New Site' from the dashboard.

Add New Site

Upon first entering the form, you'll be directed to the 'Add New Site' page. On this page, please fill out the following options:

What would you like to request - Select ‘Add domain name,’ unless you want to purchase a new hosting service.
What would you like to request (under Domain Info) - Select ‘Request migration.’
Domain Name - Enter your domain
Select Existing Plan - Select the service/domain you want the site to be associated with.

The next page is a review page, please check that the information is correct and click 'Continue.'

Introduction

The Introduction page outlines the expectations for the migration. We ask that you please read through the introduction. Once complete, all you need to do is choose your service/domain at the bottom and click 'Next.'

Site Details

The Site Details page is where you'll provide the necessary information to access your current host and site.

If you are migrating via a backup, Cloudflare, SSH, or WordPress, please follow their instructions outlined under 'Special Migration Steps.'

For the Site Details, we ask that you fill out the following:

Current Host Login - Please select your current host (if not in the list choose 'Other,' then input URL) and input the logins to your account.
WordPress Login - WordPress logins are not mandatory. If you would like to share the account, you may give us the logins here.
Do You have SSH details for this site? - Please leave it switched off.
+ Add Another Site to Migrate - If you are migrating multiple sites, please click to fill out another form for the additional site.

Once all necessary information has been given, click 'Next' to proceed.

Special Migrations Steps - Site Details

Please ignore and move to 'Domain Details' if you have Current Host Logins

Backup/.zip File Migration

For the Site Details, we ask that you fill out the following:

Current Host Login - Please select ‘Other’ as the ‘Name of Current Host’ then write “Backup Provided” for ‘URL,’ ‘Username’ and ‘Password.’
WordPress Login - WordPress logins are not mandatory. If you have/would like to share the account, you may give us the logins here.
Do You have SSH details for this site? - Please leave it switched off.
+ Add Another Site to Migrate - If you are migrating multiple sites, please click to fill out another form for the additional site.

Cloudflare Migration

For the Site Details, we ask that you fill out the following:

SSH Migration

For the Site Details, we ask that you fill out the following:

Current Host Login - Please select ‘Other’ as the ‘Name of Current Host’ then write “SSH Details Provided” for ‘URL,’ ‘Username’ and ‘Password.’
WordPress Login - WordPress logins are not mandatory. If you have/would like to share the account, you may give us the logins here.
Do You have SSH details for this site?- Click the switch, then you may fill out the ‘Server IP Address,’ ‘Port,’ ‘Username’ and ‘Password.’
+ Add Another Site to Migrate - If you are migrating multiple sites, please click to fill out another form for the additional site.

Once all necessary information has been given, click 'Next' to proceed.

WordPress Migration

Please note that WordPress Migrations can be a time-consuming process, so we only recommend them in cases where there are no other options.

For the Site Details, we ask that you fill out the following:

Current Host Login - Please select ‘Other’ as the ‘Name of Current Host’ then write “WordPress Provided” for ‘URL,’ ‘Username’ and ‘Password.’
WordPress Login - Please input your ‘Username’ and ‘Password,’ along with your ‘WordPress URL.’
Do You have SSH details for this site? - Please leave it switched off.
+ Add Another Site to Migrate - If you are migrating multiple sites, please click to fill out another form for the additional site.

Once all necessary information has been given, click 'Next' to proceed.

Domain Details

The Domain Details page is where you'll provide the necessary information to access your domain registrar and domain.

If you are curious about the options:

BigScoots Handling DNS Changes - BigScoots will handle your DNS for you, allowing traffic to find your site and removing an extra step.
Is Domain Registered with Current Host - If the domain registrar and the current host are the same, click the switch to skip adding Domain registrar logins.
Domain Registrar - The section to input your domain registrar (If the domain registrar is not in the list choose 'Other' then input URL) and the logins. If you don't know your domain registrar, you can check using this guide.

Once all necessary information has been given, click 'Next' to proceed.

Additional Details

The Additional Details page is where you will be able to share any unique details regarding your site. Here, you'll find various options that you can select to include in the migration, along with a space to enter any additional instructions. If none of the options are relevant, you can simply leave them all unchecked and click 'Next.'

If you are migrating via a backup or Cloudflare, please follow their instructions outlined under 'Special Migration Steps.'

If you are curious about the options:

Do you have a DNS/CDN service - This section is for users who already have a CDN such as Cloudflare that they would like to have integrated into their WPO portal. If chosen, you will be able to select the CDN and fill out ‘Username’ and ‘Password.’ (See more information below)
Migrating a membership or e-commerce - This section is for users who have a shop/subscription service.
Team Members - This section is for users who would like to add collaborators to their service. If selected, you can enter the emails of all the collaborators.
Redirects - This section is for users who have redirects on their site, URLs that direct the user to another. If selected, you will be able to enter all the redirects.(EX: https://domain.com/2020/08/postname => https://domain.com/postname)

Any Other Special Instructions? - Write any special instructions you have for the migration here.

Special Migration Steps - Additional Details

Please ignore and move to 'Email & Domain' if neither migrations apply

Backup/.zip File Migration

Within the 'Any Other Special Instructions?' section, please include a link to the backup. We typically recommend using https://sharemy.zip/, but you can use another file sharing service.

Cloudflare Migration

Within the 'Do you have a DNS/CDN Service?(Ex. Cloudflare / Sucuri / Ezoic)' section, please select Cloudflare and input your username and password.

Email & Domain

The Email & Domain page is an acknowledgement form informing you that while we will migrate the site, we will not transfer the domain or migrate the email, as part of the migration. Although you can transfer the domain and migrate the email, both actions will be completed once the migration is finished.

Once you have read the form, please toggle the switch to acknowledge, then click 'Next.'

Overview & Finalize

The Overview and Finalize page provides a summary of all your information for review before submission. If everything appears correct, click 'Submit Migration Request.'

Your migration request has been successfully submitted!

The migration process is seamless and will take approximately 90 minutes, with no downtime. During this time, your site will be fully optimized, and a comprehensive security audit will be conducted. Please refrain from making any changes to the site or its DNS settings until the migration is complete.
